Modern distribution
centres with automatic warehouse and conveyor technology systems require
high investment volumes. In order to ensure a maximum Return on
Investment, the performance of the technical systems must be fully used.
This is where the Material Flow System comes into play. Optimization
strategies such as the dynamic selection of optimal transport paths, the
creation of interleaving tasks or the dynamic transport location
assignment and sequence building of partial orders are standard
functions of material flow systems. These guarantee an efficient and
performance based material flow in the highly automated systems. The SAP
integrated visualization system from inconso gives a precise overview
of situations in the facility and gives early warnings about critical
facility situations and disruptions.
SAP offers two solutions for the material flow control of automated warehouses (HBW, SPW, tabular warehouse, ...):
- SAP EWM-MFS in SAP EWM
- SAP TRM as an extension of SAP LES
The coverage of the
complete business logic with SAP solutions is „state of the art." The
PLC level is controlled directly out of SAP. See the level model
graphic. This increases the flexibility for future process changes /
extensions significantly because everything in the SAP
system and not in subordinated control systems. In today's
automated warehouse systems, the possibility exists to design the
process control level so intelligently that the technology-related logic
(registration point control) is represented on the PLC level and
results in the SAP system having a reduced performance load. High volume
warehouses and logistics networks can be operated securely and with a
high performance using SAP logistics solutions.
