inconsoWMS S functions overview

inconsoWMS S consists of five basis modules that can be activated based on the customer requirements. inconsoWMS S is already ready for operation with just the warehouse management (WMS) module. Within this basis module, there are a multitude of functional components. With these components, inconsoWMS S guarantees a high measure of flexibility and is suited exactly for use in a dynamic environment.

//// Basis module of inconsoWMS S

//// Basis module WMS

The basis module is mandatory for processing warehouse processes. The module contains all the basic functions needed to manage basic processes in goods receiving, storage, picking and goods issue and shipping. In addition, the following functions are available in the basis module operations scope:
  • Multi-client capable
  • Multi-language
  • Master data management
  • User management
  • Location management
  • Customer orders
  • Warehouse movements
  • Inventory management
  • Stock reservation
  • Batch management
  • Annual inventory counting

In addition, the standard scope of functions can be extended with the following.

Site Management

The site management allows for the management of different sites in a single DB instance. Different warehouse locations can be set up per site. Stock and movements are only shown in the assigned sites. The material master data is available globally.

Forms Generator
inconsoWMS S has its own forms generator available for creating and maintaining forms and labels.

Location Capacity Management (extended)
This function is for the capacity calculation when mixing load units on a single location.

Package Management / Packaging
The package management manages packages that do not have material master data in inconsoWMS S. The management is done using the unique identification number of the package. In addition, materials within the package can be packed or unpacked (package items). The package management represents a stock management both for the packages themselves and the storage packages.

Transport/Transport Units/Load Dispatching
This extension function allows for the consolidated processing of any number of shipments with the same shipping properties. There is a differentiation between inbound and outbound transports as well as pre-stage, main stage and post-stage transports.

Production / Finishing

The extension Production / Finishing contains the processing of material lists for assembly, kit creation or the production of sales units.

ADC Automatic Data Processing

Cross-shipment data recording with scanners and defined barcodes (EAN-128 label according to GS1) for the receiving and recognition of warehouse units (pallets).

Reservation Scripts
Management of reservation templated for controlling the reservation processes and to automate repeating reservation processes.

Serial Numbers
Allows for the recording of serial numbers in the Goods Issue processes during order picking or packing.

Dangerous Goods
Allows for the assignment of materials to dangerous goods classifications and packing regulations that can be evaluated in paper format.

Parcel Services
Supports the standard parcel shipping for Deutsche Post, DPD, Hermes, GLS. For complex requirements, we recommend the use of a professional parcel system.

Cross-docking
With the cross-docking module, packages can be received and either directly assigned to an outbound transport or stored in first and assigned to a transport later in the process. In the standard process, the packages in the goods receiving document are received and assigned to a location. Using a goods issue document, all or individual packages of a goods receiving can be called up and assigned to a transport.

Bonded Warehouse (OZL)
With the bonded warehouse (OZL) module, both the logistics master data and the required customs data such as customs tariff number, goods value, freight terms and documents are recorded within the movements and bookings. Analyses of movements, production, stocks and the calculation of customs occur in the extension module. A connection to customs authorities is possible.

Consumption Tax Warehouse (OBL)
With this module, both the logistics master data and the required data for consumption taxation such as customs tariff numbers, consumption taxes, liters of alcohol or degree of use and documents are recorded with the movements and bookings. Analyses of movements, production, stocks and the calculation of consumption taxes occur in the extension module. An analysis and creation of a protocol is available.

Invoicing
For invoicing, all the activities completed by the warehouse operator are invoiced to the clients. These services are client-related and maintained in the master data as contracts. Invoice creations with the corresponding quantities are cumulated. The invoicing can take place both manually for each individual service or automatically including all services within a defined invoicing period.

Document Management
The document management allows for the creation and saving of different documents. Each document is saved with a document type and its own number. Each document type can be set up with several number circles. This extension module is required for the management of shipment papers.

Backlog Management
Listing of non-completed store-out orders in order to manage back order deliveries.

Events and Email Module - Event Management
This module contains the functions for event management. Via customizing, events that trigger defined actions such as printing of documents or sending emails can be defined and executed.

Archiving
Movement data no longer relevant for operational use is moved from the main tables of the database into the archive tables.

Series Booking
With series booking, inventories can be rebooked in their separation characteristics. This allows for changes such as batch, best-use-by data or production date changes for specific materials or batches to be done using specific booking dialogs. In addition, inventories can be booked out of logical warehouse such as a QA warehouse into a standard warehouse. Or, stocks can be booked from one client in the system to another.

Store-in Strategies
Store-in strategies represent a group of store-in rules. The store-in rules consist of conditions that must be fulfilled in order to successfully complete a location assignment. Different rules are combined into a strategy with a defined processing sequence. This means, that if the first rule does not result in an assignment, the next rule in sequence is used. This sequence is continued until a location is assigned. The store-in strategies are customer independent and are assigned during the location assignment.

Reservation Rules
Reservation strategies allow for an extensive adaptation of the reservation processes to the requirements of the customers / users. Each reservation order is assigned to a strategy. The reservation process will be executed according to this strategy.  A strategy consists of a sequence of rules. Any number of rules can be combined to a strategy. The rules have a defined sequence in which the reservation process will be completed. If a rule results in a warehouse unit which can be picked from, then the strategy is ended as successful.

Permanent Inventory
The extension module is set up as a warehouse location based permanent inventory process. All locations will be counted one time within the financial year. The counting is supported by a zero net inventory. In a special dialog, all the locations that have not been counted within the last financial year are listed. Filtering of locations in specific areas or with low stock levels can be done.  From the dialog, a counting of these locations can be started. For the counting, the locations are blocked for all warehouse movements and bookings. With the reporting of the count, the count date of the location is set and eventual inventory differences are booked into a specific stock.

Empties / Returnables Management
With the empties / returnables management, the inventories of empty load units such as Euro pallets are managed. In a quick overview, you can see which freight forwarder or customer has received or delivered load units.

//// Basis module EDI

The basis module EDI is responsible for managing the electronic data exchange with connected systems. Among the basis functions, standard interfaces for advance shipping notices, delivery instructions, special movements, inventory comparisons, material and address master data are available. Functions such as error protocols, warnings, general messages, transfer automation, timers for reading and writing data are a part of the standard scope.

The data transmission (RF) is an integral part of inconsoWMS and is managed in the basis module MFCS. All functions of the forklift control system, the forklift management, the scanner supported or paperless order picking, load scanning and inventory counting tasks are coordinated with this module. Using strategy plans, tasks such as store-ins, reallocations or store-outs can be assigned to different priorities. It is also possible to use different strategies within the tasks. For example, different processes for goods receiving based on customer specific instructions are considered. Furthermore, it is possible to define strategies that check specific situations in the warehouse and consider warehouse locations during the task assignments.

//// Module eLog
This module is used for the collaboration with partners and exchange of data with customers via an internet based dialog.  Along with stock information, this portal can also be used to communicate advance shipping notices. In addition, the tracking and tracing of shipments can be done using this module.
