Bad Nauheim, Germany, 07/11/2019. On June 19, 2019, the annual awards for the best theses in business informatics were presented at the TH Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences in Friedberg, Germany. As in previous years, the software specialist inconso, based in Bad Nauheim, donated prizes for the best thesis as well as for the first two years’ best students. The award ceremony was moderated by Prof. Dr. Christian Schulze.
The award donated by inconso for the best thesis this year went to Nils Gumpfer, who in his work entitled “Prediction of Myocardial Tissue Condition Using 12-Lead Electrocardiogram and Deep Learning” developed an approach for medical diagnostics. The thesis’ core is a predictive model for the prognosis of heart failure, which was impressive due to using a deep learning algorithm. The approach also illustrates that the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) extends far beyond individual industries.
In his laudatory speech, Wilfried Pfuhl, COO at inconso, emphasized that the importance of intelligent software solutions will increase in the coming years. “In the future, it will no longer be possible to ship online orders according to fixed route plans of the shipping service providers. Parameters such as traffic, weather data and time will be used by intelligent technology to increase the probability of the recipient being available. In retail, industry and logistics, artificial intelligence processes are already considered extremely important.”
